Microbix Core Base Business

Microbix was founded to develop infectious disease antigens for sale to large diagnostic kit manufacturers. This business unit has been referred to as "Microbix Virology" and has recently been renamed "Microbix Core Base Business" due to its expanded offering of products and services. Since 1988, Microbix core base business has commercialized over 60 such products and has operated profitably with margins in the range of 60-70%.

Profits from the Microbix core base business unit financed the development of our large market pipeline. This limited the need for the company to go to the capital markets and dilute shareholders equity. It will continue to be the technology platform from which our large market products will be developed.

Microbix core base business is being expanded due to customer demand.  New products and services including bulk WFI (Water For Injection) quality water and liquid media products will be launched during 2008.  GMP contract manufacturing services serving clients entering early stage clinical trials will come on line in late 2008 or early 2009.  The broadening of this busines unit has required the name change to "Microbix Core Base Business".
